Literary Arts at the Center
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts provides a lively forum for poets and prose writers through a partnership with Ludington Writers, our in-house literary arts program. The joint venture provides a supportive and encouraging environment for writers of every genre, as well as the opportunity for community members to share in the best new writing being done in Michigan.

Conferences and Workshops

- "Memoir Writing Through Memorabilia", a workshop for adult writers of all abilities, will be offered by the Westside Writers Gang through the LACA. This one day event will be limited to eight participants whose $40 fee will include all supplies, snacks and a lunch. Writers will compost short pieces of several hundred words based on memories of treasured objects. Linda Sandow, instructor, said, "I'll use Dawn Raffel's book The Secret Life of Objects as a springboard. People will bring at least two small mementos such as childhood treasures, photos, jewelry, awards, ceramics, recipes, or anything vintage and easy to carry. We will look at Dawn's examples and my own and go from there." Sandow continued, "Each person will walk out with a piece of writing that is autobiographical in nature and hopefully will be inspired to continue this as a way of preserving the past." Register for this workshop at the LACA at 107 South Harrison St., Ludington, MI. The phone number is 231-845-2787 and winter hours are Thursday through Saturday from noon to 5:00pm.
